Visitor Information Assistant (Permanent Part-Time) (Tumut)

Description Are you passionate about tourism, customer service, and promoting local experiences? Council is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person to join our team at the Tumbarumba Visitor Information Centre. You’ll be part of the team helping showcase the region’s attractions, events, and services while supporting tourism initiatives that benefit our community socially, environmentally, and economically. Responsibilities
- Offer friendly, accurate, and efficient service to all visitors, providing information on local attractions, historical sites, scenic areas, events, facilities and accommodation.
- Assist with the day‑to‑day running of the centre, maintaining the monthly work roster and ensuring displays are attractive and up to date.
- Process sales of merchandise, handle cash, and manage inventory and stock in line with manager’s approval.
- Assist with the coordination and distribution of brochures, maps, and event calendars, and contribute to any updating of print material as required.
- Maintain visitor and sales records and carry out general duties to ensure the smooth running of the Visitor Information Centre.
- Provide support to volunteers and work with casual staff, contributing to a positive team environment. Essential Criteria
- Contemporary experience working in a tourism, sales or customer service role.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of customer service to internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organise priorities and monitor workflow.
- Class C drivers’ licence. Desirable Criteria
- Contemporary knowledge of the local area, including attractions and services. - Permanent, part‑time position working 7 hours per day each Monday and Tuesday 9am to 4pm with a paid meal break to be taken on site (28 hours per fortnight).
- Salary of $906.16 – $1,019.92 per fortnight based on qualifications, skills and experience.
- 12% superannuation.
