Job Summary
- Join an internationally recognised research team improving breathing and sleep outcomes for people living with neuromuscular disease.
- Full time, 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity.
- Location: Heidelberg campus of Austin Hospital, with some off‑site travel and flexible working hours. About the role As the Research Sleep Scientist, you will be responsible for the acquisition and analysis of sleep studies, including patient set‑up for polysomnography, bilevel ventilation titration, and detailed physiological signal interpretation.
- Work hands‑on with sleep studies, applying your expertise in polysomnography, sleep staging, event scoring, and physiological signal analysis.
- Play a key role in non‑invasive ventilation (NIV) research, conducting overnight bilevel NIV titration and analysing patient‑ventilator interactions.
- Contribute to the full research lifecycle from participant support and data collection through to high‑quality data annotation and research outputs.
- Collaborate closely with researchers, clinicians and participants across hospital and home‑based settings, with flexible arrangements to support overnight studies. About you You will be a highly motivated professional with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence.
- Extensive experience working in a sleep laboratory, including evening and overnight duties.
- High level of expertise in sleep monitoring and treatment, especially overnight bilevel NIV titration.
- Proven ability to identify patient‑ventilator asynchrony and interpret ventilator waveforms and physiological data.
- Demonstrated competency in sleep staging, event scoring, and independent work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills, flexibility to work occasional overnights, and a current driver’s licence with access to a vehicle for in‑home studies. Perks
