Description
We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join our team on a temporary 6-month contract basis. The Senior Solutions Architect will provide architecture leadership for Southern Rural Water's Digital Transformation and ERP Program, with a primary focus on data architecture, integration architecture, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Integration Services and Microsoft platform alignment. The role will define and guide practical, secure and scalable solution designs across Finance, Billing, Asset Management, CRM, ECM and related enterprise systems, ensuring business requirements are translated into governed, implementation-ready architecture outcomes. Note: This is a 6-month temporary contract role, offering a day rate between $950 to $1000 inclusive of superannuation. Southern Rural Water promote flexible working and hybrid arrangements, suitably qualified applicants within Victoria but outside the Melbourne region are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities
- Lead solution architecture activities for the Digital transformation program, with a primary focus on data and integration architecture across ERP functions including Finance and Billing, Asset Management, CRM, ECM and related enterprise systems.
- Define and maintain the target‑state data and integration architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles, Microsoft platform direction and program delivery objectives.
- Support the Digital Innovation practice by helping identify, assess and prioritise AI‑related opportunities, gaps, risks and use cases, ensuring proposed initiatives are practical, ethical, data‑enabled and aligned with enterprise architecture, governance and delivery priorities.
- Design data architecture patterns for Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouse, medallion architecture, data ingestion, transformation, semantic modelling, reporting and analytics consumption layers.
- Develop integration architecture across ERP, billing, finance, asset management, CRM, ECM, reporting and legacy systems, including APIs, events, data pipelines, middleware and batch interfaces.
- Work closely with business analysts, project managers, security architect, vendors and business SMEs to translate requirements into practical solution designs.
- Develop high‑quality architecture artefacts, including solution architecture documents, data flow diagrams, integration patterns, interface catalogues, source‑to‑target mappings, conceptual/logical data models and architecture decision records.
- Provide architecture leadership for data migration, reporting, reconciliation, master data, reference data, data quality, data governance and integration monitoring requirements.
- Support vendor‑facing work, including procurement input, tender clarification, vendor response evaluation, solution validation, design challenge and scope confirmation.
- Ensure proposed solutions are scalable, secure, supportable and aligned with approved Microsoft, Azure, Fabric and integration platform standards.
- Work with delivery teams to ensure architecture decisions are translated into implementation‑ready designs, technical work packages and delivery plans.
- Identify and manage key architecture risks, dependencies, assumptions and design decisions across data, integration, reporting and enterprise platform workstreams.
- Support establishment of data and integration foundations required to enable ERP delivery, reporting outcomes and future analytics or AI‑enabled capabilities.
- Provide design assurance throughout discovery, build, test and implementation phases, ensuring delivered solutions remain aligned to approved architecture.
- Support test readiness by defining integration test scope, data validation requirements, reconciliation needs and non‑functional verification criteria.
- Contribute to architecture governance forums, design authority reviews and program decision‑making.
- Mentor technical team members and promote consistent architecture standards, reusable patterns and good data and integration design practices across the program. Requirements
- Extensive knowledge and experience in solution architecture, with a strong focus on data architecture and integration architecture within complex enterprise transformation programs.
- Sound understanding of AI concepts, including generative AI, automation, analytics‑driven decision support, responsible AI, data readiness, privacy, security, governance and the practical considerations required to assess AI opportunities in an enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of ERP and enterprise platform environments, including finance, billing, procurement, fixed assets, asset management, CRM, ECM, EDRMS, reporting platforms and Operational Technology interfaces.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft platform technologies, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Azure Integration Services, lakehouse architecture, modern analytics platforms and related cloud‑based solution patterns.
- Strong practical understanding of medallion architecture, including bronze, silver and gold layer design, data ingestion, transformation, curation, governance and consumption patterns.
- Ability to design robust data architecture foundations, including canonical data models, master data, reference data, metadata, data quality, reconciliation, reporting and analytics foundations.
- Strong capability in designing integration architecture across cloud, SaaS, on‑premise and legacy platforms, including APIs, event‐based integration, batch integration, middleware, data pipelines and interface patterns.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure Integration Services, including Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, API Management, Event Grid and related integration services.
- Ability to translate business, functional and non‑functional requirements into practical, secure, scalable and supportable solution architecture.
- Strong understanding of data migration, reporting, analytics, integration security, access controls, auditability, monitoring and operational support requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in vendor‑enabled delivery environments, including tender support, solution assessment, design validation, vendor challenge and architecture assurance.
- Strong knowledge of architecture governance, architecture principles, standards, reusable patterns and risk‑based decision‑making.
- Ability to identify and manage architecture risks, technical dependencies, assumptions, design decisions and competing priorities in a complex delivery setting.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, business SMEs, project teams, operational teams, vendors and managed service providers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise and decision‑ready architecture documentation.
- Knowledge of structured delivery methods, including Agile, hybrid delivery, DevOps and waterfall project environments.
