Description
Full‑time, fixed‑term contract until 30 June 2027. Annual salary $84,770 to $98,205 (Band 5) plus superannuation and RDO. Job Summary Make a difference in the community by developing activities that raise the profile of volunteering, develop good volunteer engagement practice, and support community strengthening, social inclusion and wellbeing objectives across Boroondara. Role Overview Working in a hybrid environment and reporting to the Volunteer Support & Development Lead, the Volunteer Sector Development Officer will be responsible for a portfolio of activities for which volunteers, volunteer‑involving organisations, and Council departments are the primary audience or customer group. Key Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the Volunteer Support & Development Lead to develop initiatives that respond to current and emerging trends in volunteering.
- Organise large events designed to connect prospective volunteers, including professionals, to community organisations and recognise and promote volunteering.
- Build the capacity of volunteer‑involving organisations and Council departments to engage volunteers by organising workshops, forums or online resources.
- Continuously develop the Boroondara Volunteer Skills Bank.
- Continuously develop the Boroondara volunteer management database. Key Qualifications & Experience Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal; personable and approachable to a range of audiences including all levels of local government, external organisations, networks, and the community. Demonstrated understanding of the volunteer sector. Experience in project development and delivery of large events. Comprehensive computer skills across Microsoft Office; willingness to work as part of a team and share experiences.
- Preferred: qualification or continuing study in community development, social science or human services.
- Commitment to quality outcomes and efficient work practices.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills. Employment Requirements
