Corrective Services Current South Wales (CSNSW) Talent Pool Creation for future Ongoing full time Correctional Officer roles Security Operations Group (SOG) – Operations | K9 | Extreme High Security Escort Unit Location: Statewide (Extreme High Security – SOG Metro only) Salary Range: $75,151 – $89,070 per annum plus incidental allowance $1,153 – $3,458 per annum. About The Role This role delivers a high standard of security, assistance and support to General Managers, Governors, senior management and officers in charge of correctional centres within NSW. Responsibilities include maintaining good order, discipline, safety and security of correctional centres and providing continuous static and dynamic security during the containment and oversight of Extreme High Risk Restricted inmate and Extreme High Security offender activities. The role aims to contribute to the safety, welfare, development and rehabilitation of inmates and the safety of the public, in compliance with court directions and departmental policies. About You We are looking for candidates with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, resilience, strong work ethic and a high level of integrity aligned with CSNSW core values. You must be prepared to work a rotating roster, including weekends, shift work, travel across NSW, and potentially extended periods away from home, including after‑hours and emergency call‑outs. A fitness test for the Security Operations Group must be passed before selection. Essential Requirements
- Certificate III in Correctional Practice or equivalent custodial experience.
- Completed and able to maintain the Security Operations Group fitness test.
- Completed the Emergency Response Operators Course (EROC).
- Valid NSW Driver’s Licence and ability to drive official vehicles.
- Commitment to role requirements.
- Willingness to respond to serious incidents and collaborate with Security & Custody teams and external law enforcement.
- Work in partnership with Immediate Action Teams.
- Successful completion of all required training courses (e.g., Security Operations Group Induction Course).
- For K9 applicants: completed or able to complete all requirements of the NSW Corrective Services Dog Handlers Course and meet operational standards as a CSNSW K9 handler.
- Driver’s Licence with willingness to drive throughout NSW. Essential Certifications
- Qualification to undertake Glock 17, 9mm, and other relevant firearm platforms.
- Chemical Munitions Operations Certification (CMOC).
- Emergency Response Operators Certification (EROC). Additional Requirements Depending On Role Selection
- Meet probity and National Security Clearance requirements; applicants must be Australian citizens and obtain a National Security Clearance to ‘Secret’ level within six months of appointment.
- For K9 applicants: reside within 115 kilometres of the nominated K9 Unit Base, provide a secure yard for the CSNSW K9, and comply with residential yard requirements.
- Potential relocation to a suitable residential property with a yard; costs for yard upgrades are applicant’s responsibility.
