Civil Engineer (Wollongong)

Position of Civil Engineer Permanent full-time position. Kiama Council is committed to promoting diversity and fostering inclusion. We currently have the opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our Engineering and Works team and provide leadership and specialist engineering expertise in the planning, design and delivery of our civil infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Oversee project scoping, investigation, design development, procurement and contract administration to deliver new and renewal works from inception to handover in line with agreed budgets, timeframes, quality standards, probity requirements and WHS obligations. Support effective service delivery by providing technical advice, preparing reports and asset information, and engaging with stakeholders and the community to resolve issues and develop practical solutions. Contribute to organisational objectives through innovation and continuous improvement, sound financial and contract management, and by demonstrating leadership and accountability consistent with Council's values. What we offer Permanent full time role, 35 hours per week. Commencing annual salary from $110,825 to $122,184 (salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience). Plus 3.5% civil liability allowance. Annual performance‐based progression prospect to earn up to $134,708. Plus 12% superannuation. A dedicated work mobile phone making it easier to switch off. The option of a leaseback vehicle for operational and private use. What you'll need to be successful Proficient in civil engineering and the use of design software including AutoCAD and Drains. Knowledge of Local Government procurement processes and the Security of Payment Act NSW. A Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia and a minimum Class C Drivers Licence. Experience in engineering investigation and assessment, including the preparation of technical reports; project scoping and cost estimation; survey and design of civil infrastructure (roads, traffic and parking facilities, stormwater drainage systems and public assets); project management experience in civil engineering works, including contract establishment and administration, stakeholder engagement, budget management, contractor payments, risk assessments and project management plans, with the ability to meet strict deadlines across multiple projects; procurement and contract management for engineering consultancies and contractors; preparing plans, specifications and procurement documentation for civil engineering design and construction; community engagement as part of design development. Optional beneficial experience A WHS Construction Induction (White Card). Experience in floodplain management. Experience in traffic and transport planning and knowledge of the NSW Roads Act. Understanding of land acquisition processes for project delivery. Knowledge of asset maintenance systems and management of local government assets. Structural design experience.
