Head of Learning Area - Science (Yanchep)

Role Overview This is a 6 month fixed-term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2026 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency. Yanchep Secondary College, established in 2018, provides a broad, high‑level curriculum for students in Years 7–12, including vocational courses, a commercial kitchen and café, an arts centre, and specialist teaching support. Responsibilities As a key member of the administrative team, you will work closely with the Principal to provide educational leadership within the school and the broader community. Your primary focus will be on developing and promoting the school’s vision, encouraging active participation from staff, community volunteers, and other stakeholders within the science learning area. In your role as a curriculum leader, you will provide professional guidance to science teachers, ensuring they stay informed on relevant curriculum issues, facilitate teaching and learning outcomes, employ effective performance‑management strategies, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. A key aspect may involve implementing change‑management strategies to support the community in accepting and developing opportunities for improved service within the designated subject area, as well as collaborating on the development of the school plan, participative decision‑making, policy development, and system establishment. - Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the entire term of appointment.
- Hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before starting.
