About the role We are looking for a talented Pastry Chef to join our team at Sourdough Kitchen in Seddon, VIC. As a full-time Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious and visually stunning pastries, cakes, and desserts that delight our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your baking skills and contribute to the growth and success of our thriving bakery. What you'll be doing 1. Producing a range of bakery and pastry items by handling all stages of dough preparation, from initial mixing through to baking finished products 2. Assessing ingredient standards and ensuring quantities are measured correctly before commencing production 3. Creating a variety of fillings and completing baked items with appropriate finishes such as glazing, cream work and icing 4. Adjusting and supervising baking conditions to achieve consistent results in texture, colour and overall product quality 5. Managing production flow during baking cycles, including preparation, oven loading, post-bake handling and cooling processes 6. Using bakery tools and mechanical equipment designed for dough handling, shaping and processing 7. Preparing, maintaining and resetting baking equipment, trays and moulds to ensure they are ready for continued use 8. Keeping the production area compliant with food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements at all times 9. Contributing to the refinement of existing products and supporting trials of new bakery and pastry items 10. Coordinating with other kitchen staff to support efficient daily production and consistent output standards What we're looking for 1. Formal training or a qualification in baking or pastry arts 2. Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role in a bakery or restaurant environment 3. Proficiency in a range of baking techniques, such as tempering chocolate, dough lamination, making puff pastry, and creating intricate desserts 4. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality 5. Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment 6. Excellent time management and organisational skills 7. Able to start at 3am some days.
