Port Wakefield, Australia | Posted on 20/05/2026 Job Advertisement: Baker – Kipling Bakery Kipling Bakery is seeking an experienced and reliable Baker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, producing and baking a variety of bread, rolls, buns, pastries, cakes and other bakery products to a high standard. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who has strong baking knowledge, can work efficiently in a busy bakery environment, and is committed to maintaining consistent product quality, food safety and hygiene standards.
- Prepare, mix, knead, mould and bake bread, rolls, buns, pastries, cakes and other bakery products.
- Measure and combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, fats and other ingredients according to recipes and production requirements.
- Operate bakery equipment including mixers, dough dividers, moulders, provers, ovens and other commercial baking equipment.
- Monitor dough preparation, fermentation, proofing times, oven temperatures and baking quality.
- Prepare fillings, toppings, icings and glazes for bakery products as required.
- Check the quality, appearance, texture and freshness of finished products before display or packing.
- Plan and follow daily production schedules to ensure products are baked and ready on time.
- Maintain stock rotation, ingredient control and assist with ordering bakery supplies when required.
- Ensure all bakery products are produced in accordance with food safety, hygiene and quality standards.
- Clean and sanitise equipment, benches, ovens, utensils and work areas in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Assist with waste control and minimise product wastage during production.
- Work cooperatively with other bakery and kitchen staff to meet daily production targets.
- Train or assist junior bakery staff where required. Requirements
- Minimum relevant baking experience in a commercial bakery or similar food production environment.
- Ability to prepare and bake a wide range of bakery products from raw ingredients.
- Experience using commercial bakery equipment such as mixers, provers and ovens.
- Solid knowledge of dough preparation, proofing, baking temperatures and product quality control.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays as required.
- Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure during busy trading periods.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.
- Relevant qualification in baking or commercial cookery is preferred.
