Cabinet Maker (Armidale)

Job description: Aspen specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of premium joinery solutions throughout Australia. Due to the ongoing expansion of its business, Aspen is looking for a Cabinet Maker to assist on all facets of its long-standing joinery business. POSITION OBJECTIVES Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, a Cabinet maker is responsible for the performance and output of the furniture and joinery items from the Armidale factory, in terms of speed, quality, accuracy, skills development and teamwork. This position is an integral part of the work team that produces and assembles product in accordance with set production schedules.
- To construct furniture and joinery cabinets in accordance with established schedules
- Maintaining appropriate levels of material at their assembly site
- Producing at an appropriate level of production required to meet established schedules
- Checking job sheets against cut lists and/or Plan as to highlight possible inconsistencies in product design to minimise mistakes and produce product in accordance with clients wishes
- Raising those concerns with the Factory Manager
- Maintaining quality in the assembly of the items produced
- WHS responsibilities
- Uphold all WHS policies and procedures
- Monitor risks and report safety issues immediately
- Keep area clean and monitor hazardous obstructions
- Ensure tools are maintained appropriately and are used correctly
- Highlight material shortages as and when they become known
- Mentor and train apprentices, work with students as and when required
- Ensure machine or product issues are identified in a timely manner and are reported to the Factory Manager to minimise potential effects on established schedules
- Participate in performance appraisals when due KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Follow procedure to produce product and deliver in full on time
- Minimise number of defects reaching site, reporting issues immediately
- Maintain and improve productivity in factory, as applicable to the role
- Minimise incidents/injuries by adhering to Aspen WHS policies and procedures and reporting any immediately to the Factory Manager. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Essential
- Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology or equivalent or relevant experience
- Completion of or progression towards a cabinet making/joinery trade qualification with proven industry experience
- Proficient time management skills and the ability to work within established production schedules
- Problem solving skills, allowing for rapid decision making as required
- Ability to identify current or potential errors based on design information provided
- Capacity to maintain sustained level of concentration in a volume processing activity to ensure accuracy
- Competent to work autonomously and with a team, without regular supervision
- Excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.
