Machine Operator/ Plasma Cutter (Brisbane City)

The Machine Operator works as an integral part of the Operations team, supporting the manufacturing and refurbishment of mining assets and equipment. The role involves a wide range of tasks including operating specialised machines and equipment, interpreting technical drawings, installing and removing wear‑resistant materials, and assisting tradespeople in fabrication and assembly, packing of finished orders for transport, delivery of orders as required. The position ensures that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and customer requirements, contributing to the overall effectiveness of production operations. About the Role In this role, you will play a key part in production operations, working across a variety of machinery and processes. You’ll support fabrication activities, operate specialised equipment, and ensure all work meets strict quality (QA/QC) and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Operate a range of workshop machinery and equipment, including:
- Plasma cutting machines
- Hydraulic press and rollers
- Grinders, welding machines & specialised cutting equipment
- Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications
- Assist tradespeople with fabrication, assembly, and installation of wear materials
- Conduct pre‑start checks and basic maintenance on equipment
- Support packing and dispatch of completed orders
- Maintain a clean, secure, and organised workshop environment
- Contribute to QA/QC processes, including documentation and compliance checks
- Identify and report hazards, non‑conformances, and equipment issues About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience operating machinery in a workshop or mining environment
- Plasma cutting experience (essential)
- Strong QA/QC awareness and experience working to specifications
- Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience (highly regarded)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance
- High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
