Position Summary CSIRO’s Marine National Facility (MNF) is seeking a motivated Facilities Support Officer to help ensure the operational readiness and safe delivery of scientific voyages aboard RV Investigator. The role involves supporting the administration of key ship‑management contract deliverables, liaising closely with internal teams and external service providers to coordinate maintenance, compliance and port activities. Responsibilities
- Support the Ship Management Coordinator in overseeing the ship‑management contract, ensuring compliance with Australian and international maritime regulations.
- Provide timely and accurate support and assist with contract‑management tasks, including reviewing and processing invoices, raising purchase orders, updating and maintaining the contract‑management register and budget spreadsheets.
- Assist in managing contract deliverables, ensuring timely execution of tasks identified in the contract‑management plan.
- Support Facilities Team members and the vessel operator in planning vessel modifications and equipment installations for evolving scientific capabilities.
- Support the development of procedures to clarify roles, responsibilities and operational expectations between MNF and the vessel operator.
- Perform other duties as directed. Role Particulars Location: Hobart, Tasmania. Salary: AU$76k – AU$96k per annum (pro rata for part‑time) plus 15.4% superannuation. Tenure: Indefinite, full time. What you will bring
- Relevant trade certificate, diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in the coordination and provision of logistical, operational and technical requirements associated with maritime operations.
- Demonstrated experience providing administration and project support to management in a fast‑paced and complex technical environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in contract‑management practices and an understanding of procurement and financial procedures.
- Proven ability to liaise, negotiate and influence others to achieve organisational objectives, and to foster and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to communicate openly, respectfully and with clarity on technical and specialist matters related to maritime operations, and to foster an environment that promotes collaboration, individual responsibility and new ideas. Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of blue‑water marine research.
- Experience in health and safety in the maritime sector, including risk‑based planning.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
