This is a genuine pathway to a BDM role, not a line in a job ad that disappears once you're hired. Empyrean IT is a Melbourne-based Microsoft partner. We work with mid-market Australian organisations across Cybersecurity, Data & AI, Dynamics 365, Modern Workplace, Hybrid Cloud, and Managed Services. The team is small, the deals can be complex. We're adding an SDR to the BDM team with a transparent structure for career progression. The first 6
- 9 months Your focus is pipeline. You'll be booking 10 qualified meetings per week through outbound prospecting primarily through cold calling. Alongside that, you'll shadow 5 customer meetings per week across the full sales cycle: discovery, demo, proposal, and close. You'll see how deals actually move, not just the opener. Month 9
- 12 If you're hitting your numbers and picking up the craft, you'll start running your own meetings. The expectation is that you're generating revenue before the end of Year 1. What we're looking for
- Some outbound or sales experience, even 6
- 12 months of cold calling experience is enough if the attitude is right
- Technology sales or SaaS sales experience is advantageous
- Genuine curiosity about how businesses use technology
- Comfortable with the grind of outbound activity, this is volume work, and you need to be honest with yourself about that
- Coachable above everything else. The people who succeed here listen first
- Full Australian working rights What you get
- $70,000-$80,000 base + super, depending on experience
- $50 per qualified meeting booked at target (10 meetings/week) that's $26,000 in commission
- $100,000+ OTE at target
- A structured path to a BDM role with your own territory and quota
- Mentoring across live deals from a senior BDM in real meetings, not a training program
