Reporting to the Compliance Superintendent, the Welding Coordinator will lead a team of qualified Welding Inspectors and NDT Technicians. The role involves developing, implementing, and managing the welding quality management system, ensuring full compliance with this system for all welding activities on Fortescue assets across the Chichester Hub.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Align with Fortescue values and safety culture and promote secure work practices through field interactions with workgroups.
- Establish, maintain, and audit welding quality management systems in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 3834, ensuring compliance with Australian and international standards.
- Create, review, and approve welding documentation, including ITPs, WPS, welder qualifications, and NDT requests, ensuring adherence to specifications, codes, and standards.
- Provide advice on welding processes, quality systems, and fabrication activities to clients, manufacturers, consultants, and third-party contractors.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and welding supervision to ensure compliance with specifications and best practices, while directing welding inspectors as needed.
- Troubleshoot welding issues and offer practical solutions to maintain operational excellence.
- Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations to drive improvements and ensure engineering excellence.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Hold relevant qualifications such as International Welding Specialist (IWS), AS2214, or AS1796 Certificate 10 Welding Supervisor.
- Possess extensive knowledge of Australian and international structural and pressure vessel welding codes, including AS1554, AWS D1.1, AS1796, AS3992, ASME IX, and AS/NZS ISO 9606.1.
- Demonstrate expertise in NDT processes and techniques, particularly VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT as applied to welding.
- Bring a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in welding supervision, with at least 2 years operating within and maintaining an ISO 3834-accredited quality system.
- Exhibit strong competency in SAP and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Hold a current WA Driver's Licence and the ability to work in remote site locations.
