CHEF Berto's Espresso – Surry Hills NSW Full‑Time | 38 hours per week Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per year + super About Us Berto's Espresso is a bustling neighbourhood café in Surry Hills, focused on quality coffee and a consistent breakfast and lunch offering in a high‑volume, casual dining environment. Our menu emphasises fresh, seasonal ingredients and efficient service. The Role We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to work as part of our kitchen team, preparing and cooking meals in accordance with established recipes and service standards. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical cookery skills within a café setting. This is a permanent full‑time position of 38 hours per week. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present menu items in accordance with established recipes and portion standards
- Ensure consistent quality, taste and presentation of dishes across breakfast and lunch service
- Assist with food preparation, mise en place and service during busy trading periods
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with food safety and WHS requirements
- Monitor food storage, labelling and stock rotation
- Attend to ordering and stock control
- Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience as a Chef or Cook in a commercial kitchen or café environment
- Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher, or equivalent)
- Strong practical cooking skills suited to a café / restaurant setting
- Proven experience developing café/brunch and lunch menus
- Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP compliance, and safe kitchen practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
- Reliable, punctual and able to work a rotating roster What We Offer
